How to Download Videos from Threads (2026)

Threads inherited Instagram's most annoying trait: there is no way to download video, not even your own. Combined with a culture of deleting old posts, video you want to keep has a short shelf life. Here's how to save videos from Threads on any device, and one trick that often gets you a better file.

The method

Copy the post link. Tap the share icon → Copy link under the post. Both threads.net and threads.com URLs work.
Paste it into the Threads video downloader in any browser.
Pick MP4 (or MP3 for the audio) and let the progress bar finish. The file saves automatically.

No Meta login is involved at any point. On iPhone use Safari and find the file in Files → Downloads; on Android it lands in Downloads and your gallery.

The Instagram cross-post trick

Threads runs on Instagram's infrastructure, and a large share of Threads videos are cross-posted Reels. If the post links to (or clearly is) a Reel, grab the Instagram link and use the Instagram downloader instead, the original upload often carries a higher-quality version than the Threads re-encode. Why bother saving Threads videos

Your own content, Threads never returns your file; a download is the only copy you'll get for cross-posting to Shorts or TikTok.

Limits

Private profiles, undownloadable, as on every platform; anything promising otherwise is phishing for your Meta password.
Reposts, the download follows the original post's video.
