Dailymotion Video Downloader

This works the way our YouTube downloader does. Paste the link of a public Dailymotion video and every quality that video really has is listed with its file size, up to 1080p when it was uploaded in full HD. Pick one and the video is saved as an MP4 you keep, or switch to MP3 for just the sound. You can also cut out only the part you need before saving.

The MP4 is H.264 video with AAC sound, the combination every phone, TV, browser and video editor plays without extra software. Nothing is re-encoded to reach a resolution the upload never had: if a video was uploaded at 720p, the list stops at 720p.

The Audio tab turns a Dailymotion video into an MP3 at 64, 128, 256 or 320 kbps, with the title and cover image filled in. It suits music sessions, interviews, talks and documentaries you want to hear rather than watch. Trim it first if you only want one song or one answer from a longer video. • In the Dailymotion app, tap Share on the video and choose Copy link. A short dai.ly address works the same as a full link.
• On Android, paste the link here in your browser. The file goes to Downloads and shows up in your gallery.
• On an iPhone, paste it here in Safari. The MP4 goes to the Files app, and from there you can save it to Photos.
• On a laptop or desktop, copy the address from the browser bar while the video is open.

The options come from the upload, not from us. Recent videos from partner channels usually have 720p or 1080p. Much of the older archive that Dailymotion is known for, such as broadcast segments and early music sessions, was uploaded at 480p or lower and has no HD copy at all, even when the player's quality menu suggests otherwise. The list only shows qualities that exist for that video, each with its real size.

Dailymotion videos reach us through a server in Europe, so a full HD file of several minutes can take a few minutes to prepare. The progress bar keeps moving while it works. If you are in a hurry, 480p is usually less than half the size of 720p, and an MP3 is smaller still.

• Use the link of the video itself. An address containing /playlist/ points to a collection; open one video and copy its address.
• Embedded player links (dailymotion.com/embed/video/...) usually work, but the plain /video/ address is the most reliable.
• Private, password-protected and paid videos cannot be downloaded, and removed videos are gone for everyone.
• Some broadcast content is licensed only in certain countries, and may not be available to our servers even when it plays for you.

Dailymotion carries a lot that is hard to find elsewhere: European news archives, sports highlights, live music sessions and shows that never appeared on other platforms. People save clips before rights changes take them down, keep interviews for research, and recover their own uploads when the original file is lost.
