Paste the link of a public VK video and the qualities it exists in appear. Choose one to save an MP4, or switch to MP3 for the sound alone. Links from vk.com and from vkvideo.ru both work, and so does an address copied while a video is open from a list page, the kind that ends in ?z=video followed by numbers.
VK stores several copies of each video. Recent uploads are often in full HD; older ones may stop at 480p or lower, and the list only shows what exists. In our test a full HD news video was saved as H.264 at 1920x960 with AAC sound, and the same video at 480p came out at 852x426. Both play on any phone, TV or computer.
VK does not tell us file sizes in advance, so the list shows a dash where a size would be. As a rough guide, a 30-minute video in 1080p runs to several hundred megabytes; 480p or MP3 is far smaller.
The Audio tab saves an MP3 at 64, 128, 256 or 320 kbps with the video's thumbnail as cover art. It suits concerts, lectures, podcasts and other long videos you would rather listen to.
On an iPhone, use Safari; the MP4 goes to the Files app, and Share, then Save Video, moves it to Photos. On Android, Chrome saves it to Downloads. Any current browser works on a computer.
Only download videos you made, have permission to save, or that are clearly licensed for reuse. This site has no connection with VK.
