Paste the link of a SoundCloud track and you see its title, its length and the size each MP3 will be. Pick a bitrate, press download, and the MP3 arrives with the track title, the artist and the cover art already filled in. It runs in your browser, so there is no app or extension to install. Short on.soundcloud.com links from the app's Share button work as well as full soundcloud.com addresses.
We checked four SoundCloud tracks and every one was streamed in two versions: AAC at 160 kbps and AAC at 96 kbps. We always convert from the 160 kbps version. A 320 kbps MP3 made from it keeps everything that is in the stream, but it cannot sound better than the stream itself; it is simply a bigger file. For listening, 128 or 256 kbps sounds the same and saves space. Pick 320 kbps if you will edit the track and export it again, since each lossy save after that costs a little.
On a computer, copy the address of the track page from the browser's address bar. In the SoundCloud app, tap Share and then Copy link. Paste the link above and press Convert. An artist page is not a track, so open one of their tracks first.
On an iPhone, open this page in Safari; the MP3 goes to the Files app, under Downloads. On Android, use Chrome or another browser and the file lands in Downloads, where music apps find it.
Paste the link of a playlist or album (an address with /sets/ in it) and its tracks are listed with their titles and lengths, up to 50 at a time. Choose a bitrate once, then save each track you want with one click; there is no need to go back to SoundCloud for every link. Tracks that only play as a 30-second preview are marked in the list, so you know before you download.
Set a start and an end time to keep one section, such as a single track from a long DJ mix or a few minutes of a podcast. SoundCloud streams audio in small pieces, so for a cut we fetch the whole track first and trim it on our side. Long mixes take a little longer to cut than to save whole.
Some artists switch on downloads for a track. When they do, a Download option appears on the track page on SoundCloud, and it gives you the exact file the artist uploaded, often a WAV or a high bitrate MP3. When that button is there, use it: it is better than any conversion.
Only download tracks you made, tracks the artist has allowed you to save, or tracks clearly licensed for reuse. This site has no connection with SoundCloud.
