About Us

YouTubeToMP3X is a free, browser-based YouTube to MP3 converter and video downloader, an independent, educational and experimental project built to show how modern web technology can make saving publicly available media simple, fast and transparent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to YouTube, Google, TikTok, Instagram, Meta, X Corp or any other platform mentioned on this site.

Our mission

Most download sites are a maze of fake buttons, redirect chains and pop-ups, with no honest information about what you are actually getting. We built YouTubeToMP3X around the opposite idea: one box, real information, no tricks. Paste a link and you see the video's actual title, duration, available resolutions and true file sizes before you commit to anything. A live progress bar shows exactly what the server is doing, and the file arrives with no watermark, no bundled software and no strings attached.

How the technology works

When you paste a link, our server fetches the video's metadata directly from the source platform and lists every available quality with its real size. When you choose one, the server downloads the original stream, processes it once with FFmpeg (the same open-source media engine used across the professional video industry) and streams the finished file straight to your device.

Two engineering decisions matter for quality. First, for high resolutions the platforms serve video and audio as separate streams; we merge them server-side, so you never get a silent file. Second, audio is converted exactly once from the best available source stream (never screen-captured or double-compressed), so an MP3 from us is as good as the source allows. Smart caching means a video someone recently looked up is analysed instantly.

Our principles

  • Free means free. No trials, no premium tier for "HD", no signup wall. The tools are supported by unobtrusive advertising instead.
  • Privacy first. No account is required, downloads are not tied to your identity, and converted files are deleted from our server immediately after delivery. We never sell or share personal data. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
  • Transparency. Real progress bars, real file sizes, honest error messages that say what actually went wrong, and honest writing: our guides tell you, for example, that a 320kbps MP3 cannot exceed the quality of its source, because that is the truth.
  • Respect. For creators, for platforms and for the law. We ask every visitor to download only content they own, have permission to use, or that is public domain or Creative Commons licensed.

What this project is not

This project is not intended to harm any company, platform or creator, and it does not encourage anyone to violate any terms of service or copyright law. We respond to valid takedown requests under our DMCA & Copyright Policy, and our Terms of Service spell out acceptable use. Where the legal picture is genuinely nuanced, we say so openly. Who is behind it

YouTubeToMP3X is built and maintained by a small independent team of web developers who got tired of recommending download tools they did not trust. We run our own infrastructure, write our own guides and answer our own support mail. The project is deliberately small: one site, a dozen tools, done properly.
