Download videos from Threads

Threads. Meta's text-first network, has no download option for video at all, and its feed moves even faster than X's. This tool saves videos from any public Threads post as a clean HD MP4: paste the post link, pick a quality, done. No Meta login, no app, no watermark.

How to save a Threads video

  1. Copy the post link. Tap the share icon → Copy link on the post. Links from both threads.net and threads.com work.
  2. Paste it above and press Download.
  3. Pick MP4 for the video or MP3 for just the audio.

Why save Threads videos

  • Posts are ephemeral. Accounts get deleted, posts get removed, and the platform's culture leans towards deleting old content.
  • Your own videos have no export, like Instagram, Threads re-compresses your upload and never hands the file back.
  • Cross-posting, a clean MP4 of your own clip is what you need for TikTok, Shorts or Reels.
  • Reference and archiving, statements and clips worth keeping tend to vanish exactly when they become interesting.

The limits

Private profiles can't be fetched, same rule as every platform, and any site claiming otherwise is after your Meta password. Reposts download from the original post. Since Threads shares infrastructure with Instagram, videos cross-posted from Instagram are often available at better quality via the Instagram downloader using the original Reel link.

What quality to expect from a Threads video

Threads runs on Instagram's media pipeline, which means every upload is re-encoded on Meta's side before anyone sees it. The file you download here matches the stream Threads actually serves, normally a vertical MP4 around 720p, and no tool can recover the higher-quality original that left the poster's phone, because that file never leaves Meta's servers. If quality matters and the same clip exists as an Instagram Reel, start from the Reel link instead: the same video is often served at a better bitrate there.

If a Threads link won't work

  • Copy the post link, not the profile link. The share icon on the individual post gives the right URL; a bare threads.net/@username address has no video attached to it.
  • Posts with several attachments. The downloader takes the video from the post you linked; if a thread has multiple posts, link the specific one containing the clip.
  • Deleted or restricted posts fail immediately. Threads content disappears quickly, which is usually the reason a link that worked yesterday does not today.
