YTMP3X Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 27, 2026. This page covers the YTMP3X browser extension for supported browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Opera and others. The extension is designed to process supported media locally in your browser, and you do not need to create an account to use it. For the website itself, see the main YouTubeToMP3X Privacy Policy.
1. Information the extension accesses
When you open the extension on a supported public YouTube video or Short, YTMP3X may access the information needed to perform the conversion you asked for, including:
- the current video ID
- video title
- thumbnail
- duration
- public player and media information
- the selected MP3 quality
This information is used only to provide the conversion you requested.
2. Local media processing
Audio conversion takes place locally on your device. The extension fetches the selected public media stream directly from YouTube and Googlevideo, converts it to MP3 inside your browser, and saves the finished file through your browser's normal download system.
YTMP3X does not upload the media file to a YTMP3X conversion server.
3. Information sent to YouTubeToMP3X
The YTMP3X browser extension does not automatically send any of the following to YouTubeToMP3X servers:
- video URLs
- video titles
- downloaded audio
- conversion history
- error reports
- browsing history
- account information
- cookies
- login information
- unique installation identifiers
The extension currently does not use a YouTubeToMP3X backend for media conversion.
4. Local storage
YTMP3X may store your selected MP3 bitrate preference locally in your browser, so your preferred quality is remembered next time.
Temporary conversion data is kept only as long as it takes to complete the current conversion, and is not retained by YTMP3X as a permanent conversion history.
5. Analytics and advertising
The extension does not use:
- analytics trackers
- advertising trackers
- fingerprinting
- persistent tracking identifiers
- behavioral advertising
6. Accounts and authentication
YTMP3X does not require a YouTube, Google or YouTubeToMP3X account. The extension does not intentionally access or collect:
- YouTube login cookies
- Google account credentials
- passwords
- private account information
Private, members-only, age-restricted, DRM-protected and otherwise unsupported content is not intentionally bypassed.
7. Third-party network requests
To do its job, the extension communicates directly with YouTube and Googlevideo. These services may receive normal technical information that accompanies internet requests, such as your IP address, browser information, and the requested media resource.
That information is handled by the third-party service under its own privacy practices. YouTubeToMP3X does not receive it through any extension analytics or tracking system.
8. Data sharing and selling
YouTubeToMP3X does not sell personal information collected through the browser extension. The extension does not transfer user data to advertising networks, data brokers or unrelated third parties.
9. User control
You can remove the extension at any time through your browser's extension settings. Removing it also removes the extension-specific local preferences that your browser manages for it.
10. Independent service
YouTubeToMP3X is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. You are responsible for using the extension only with content you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally permitted to process.
