YouTubeToMP3X Desktop App Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026. This page covers the YouTubeToMP3X desktop app for Windows. If you are looking for the website, see the main YouTubeToMP3X Privacy Policy, and for the browser add-on see the Browser Extension Privacy Policy.

The short version: the desktop app downloads and converts on your own computer, you do not need an account, and the links you paste never reach our servers.

1. Why the desktop app is different from the website

On the website, you paste a link and our server fetches the video, converts it, and sends you the file. That means the URL has to reach us. It is the only way a website can work.

The desktop app does not work that way. It talks to YouTube directly from your computer, downloads the media over your own internet connection, and does the conversion locally. Nothing about the video passes through us. This is a real difference, not a marketing line, and it is the main privacy reason to prefer the app.

2. What the app sends to us

The app makes a small number of requests to youtubetomp3x.com. They exist so the app can stay current without you reinstalling it:

  • Configuration, so the app knows which sites and formats are currently supported.
  • Version check, so it can tell you when a newer build is available.
  • Announcements, so we can warn you in the app if something breaks, for example if a platform changes and downloads start failing.

These are ordinary requests for public information. They carry no account, no identifier we assign you, and nothing about what you are downloading. The app works offline; if it cannot reach us, it carries on using what it already knows.

3. IP addresses in our server logs

We want to be straight about this rather than claim more privacy than we can deliver. When the app makes the requests above, our web server records them in standard access logs, and those logs include the IP address the request came from, along with the time and which address was requested. That is normal web server behaviour and we use it for security, debugging and abuse prevention.

These logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted automatically. They are not used for advertising, not sold, and not linked to any profile, because there is no account to link them to. Our site sits behind Cloudflare, which also processes connection data to provide security and caching, under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

An IP address counts as personal data in the EU and UK, so we would rather name it plainly here than bury it.

4. Error reports, only if you send them

If a download fails, the app can send us a diagnostic report. This never happens on its own. You choose to send it, and the app shows you the exact contents first.

A report contains the app version, the engine version, your operating system and processor type, the platform you were downloading from, the format and quality you chose, an error code, the tail end of the technical error output, and any note you typed.

Before it is sent, the app removes identifying details from the technical output, and our server removes them again on arrival rather than trusting that it was done. That second pass strips web addresses, media links, Windows and Mac user folder names, IP addresses, email addresses, and file names, since a file name taken from a video title identifies the video just as well as the link would.

5. Messages you send us

The app has a contact form. It sends the message you wrote, your email address if you chose to give one so we can reply, the app version and your operating system. Nothing else: not the link you were working on, not your file paths, not any device identifier.

One thing worth knowing: unlike error reports, we do not filter what you type here. You are looking at your own words as you send them, and quietly rewriting them would mangle the report you are trying to make. So please do not paste anything into that box you would not want us to read.

6. The download engines

The app uses two well-known open source programs, yt-dlp and FFmpeg, to do the actual downloading and converting. They are not bundled inside the app. On first run the app fetches them from their official release pages on GitHub and checks each one against a known cryptographic fingerprint before it will use it, so a corrupted or substituted file is rejected.

That download goes from your computer to GitHub. We are not involved and we do not see it. GitHub will see it as an ordinary download request, under GitHub's privacy statement.

7. The Microsoft Store version

The version distributed through the Microsoft Store is built so that the engine versions and their fingerprints are fixed inside the certified app itself. It does not ask our server which engine to use, and it cannot be pointed at a different one. Engine updates arrive as normal Store app updates. The version downloaded from our website does check with us, which is what lets us push a fix quickly when a platform changes.

8. Where your files live

Downloaded audio and video are saved to the folder you choose and stay on your computer. We never receive them, and we have no way to see what you have downloaded. Your settings and the download engines are stored locally on your machine as well.

9. What we do not do

  • No account, sign-in, name or phone number is required to use the app.
  • We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, fingerprinting or any identifier assigned to your installation.
  • We do not receive the links you paste, the files you download, or a history of what you converted.
  • We do not ask for, store or use your YouTube or Google login, and the app does not read your browser's cookies.
  • We do not sell personal data or share it with data brokers or advertising networks.

10. How long we keep things

  • Server access logs, including IP addresses: 14 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Error reports you chose to send: kept while they are useful for fixing the problem, in redacted form.
  • Messages you send us: kept so we can reply and refer back to the conversation.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you, to object to how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because the app does not create an account or a profile, in most cases there is simply nothing held about you to produce. If you have sent us a message or an error report and want it removed, email support@youtubetomp3x.com and we will deal with it within 30 days.

12. Children

The app is a general purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age where you live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and by design we collect very little from anyone.

13. Who publishes this app, and independence

YouTubeToMP3X is run by one independent developer, who also operates this website personally. On the Microsoft Store the app is published under the developer account name ZENITH HUB. Different name on the listing, same person behind it, and the contact address below reaches us either way.

YouTubeToMP3X is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google or Microsoft. You are responsible for only downloading content you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise allowed to download.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.

15. Contact
